On the Day - London Legal Walk 2016

Before you set off:

Booking-in on the day

Only one person needs to book in their team at the registration desks in Carey Street. They hand in the booking sheet (which you can download in word here and in pdf here) unless you have completed it online here and receive copies of the map for your walkers (which also has info about the photo competition etc. on it as well).

If your team leaves without you, you can book in before or after them. It's not a problem, just come and collect your map. Registration desks open at 4.30pm and close at 7pm.

The Walk Map

Please make sure you pick up some copies on the day from the registration desks! The map is also available online here.

Leaving bags and coats

We will have a staffed cloakroom in the Law Society (free but donations are of course welcome).

It will be open from 4.00pm until 9.30pm.

Photographs

We have a number of professional photographers at the walk and a photo booth!

We will have plenty of professional photographers between the booking desks and Lincoln's Inn Fields to take team photos between 17:00 and 18:00.

We will ask lead walkers and senior judges to be there to be in photos but this year we won't book time slots. With 500+ teams that has become impractical. It's first come, first served and we'll try to grab a lead walker for your photo.

For small groups and individuals we have asked "Judge" Rinder to be at the photo booth at the junction of Carey Street and Bell Yard for informal photos. Find out more about the photo booth here.

Other photographs - we will have a number of roaming professional photographers so please do stop them for photos of you at the start, end and en route!

Photo Booth - we will have an photobooth (funny props included) at the street party in Carey Street. Please do stop by to get some funny photos in.

Photo competition - remember we also have a walker photo competition - for more details click here

Cash/cheques/ CAF vouchers etc

All cheques, CAF vouchers etc. should be made out to London Legal Support Trust and they, along with any cash you have collected, can be handed in (with any gift aid forms) to the cash desk we'll be running by the registration desks on Carey Street on walk night. If you are bringing cash if you can sort it in advance into different coins in little bags, that would be very handy! If you can't we will do that when you are there. You must identify which team it is a donation towards or we will not credit it to your fundraising and it won't be on your certificate.

If you want to get them to us before walk day, you can drop them in or post them to Natalia at the National Pro Bono Centre, 48 Chancery Lane, London. WC2A 1JF

T-shirts and merchandise

If anyone wants to buy our London Legal Walk t-shirts (with the logo on the back and a blank front) there will be stall selling a limited number of these as well as new branded merchandise. You can find out more here.

On route:

Water

Our kind sponsors the Law Society are going to be handing out bottles of water in Bell Yard an some of our volunteers will have more water just before the loop at the Serpentine (until it runs out!). After you have collected your maps and registered in Carey Street then you will walk to Bell Yard or Chancery Lane and see them! Please dispose of the empty bottles properly - each of our route stewards will have a bin bag with them so they can take them from you.

At the end

How to finish

Walkers simply arrive at one of the end venues (Law Society, Carey Street, Bell Yard or Knights Templar) and you will be cheered in to join the fun! You do not need to sign anything or check in anywhere specific. Between 8.15 - 8.45pm one or two of the lead walkers will come to each end venue and announce the result, how much we have raised, how many people walked etc.

Moments for Me - After the walk, why not put up your tired legs and unwind with a well-earned massage?

Join Moments for Me at the Law Society where they will be offering 10-minute sessions of On-site Chair Massage or Indian Head Massage - the perfect way to relax post-walk!

All money raised is in support of LLST, so you can treat yourself, and help us fundraise even more.

A drink for your canine walkers

The Knights Templar provides bowls of water for any dogs who have taken part in the walk. They should be just outside the doors. If you have any problems, do ask a steward (they will be wearing t-shirts or sashes to identify themselves!)

The Crowds

At the end, entrance to the venues can be slow, please bear with us! We have tried to alter the route to avoid congestion but with thousands of walkers there may be a little queue - we really appreciate your patience and hope you still really enjoy it!
